In the bustling heart of Zurich, the Zukunft club opened its doors in 2005, quickly establishing itself as one of the city's most sought-after venues for electronic music enthusiasts. Passionately referred to as "Zukki" by locals, the club's diverse offerings range from phuture jazz and afrotech to deep house, providing an exhilarating atmosphere that lasts until the early morning.
The masterminds behind Zukunft, Miguel Castro, Alex Dallas, Dominik Müller, Markus Ott, Michi Vollenweider, and Sacha Winkler (Kalabrese), combined their expertise from previous ventures such as Dachkantine, Bogen 13, and Grubenstrasse 28. Their creative collaboration led to the inception of this pulsating club, situated in a basement along Dienerstrasse 33, near Zurich's infamous Langstrasse district.
Zukunft's unique identity is further enhanced by the artistic contributions of talents such as Pierluigi Macor, A.C. Kupper, Pascal Alexander, and Knob. Beyond the dance floor, the venue hosts cultural events including film screenings, discussions, and readings. In 2009, the Zukunft team also opened Bar3000, a stylish establishment that doubles as a smoker's lounge during club hours.
The club's lineup showcases both local and international talent, with resident DJs such as Kalabrese, Alex Dallas, Lexx, Ron Shiller, and Kejeblos. Renowned artists like Dixon, Âme, Gerd Janson, Gilles Peterson, and Andrew Weatherall have also graced the Zukunft stage.
In addition to its thriving nightlife scene, Zukunft has launched its own record label, Zukunft Recordings. The label supports emerging talents and has released works by Legendary Lightness, Jimi Jules, and Jules et Spatz.
